After a fully stacked Thursday, tonight’s NBA action features 6 games. Tonight’s slate will be interesting for DFS players due to many players being questionable heading into the slate and many of the games with blowout potential. All players should be checking lineups as the day goes on for injury updates. Here are some of my best plays of the day.
PG De’Aaron Fox (SAC @ GS, $5,400)
In the past 5 games, the Golden State Warriors have been the worst team against the point guard. De’Aaron Fox is back healthy for the Kings and receiving over 30 minutes a game. At this salary, look for him to be a safe cash game play with the potential 35 point upside.
SG/SF Corey Brewer (OKC vs LAC, $4,400)
The 32 year old veteran has been huge for OKC lately. Flashing signs of his youth, Brewer has been destroying value recently. He is finally priced over $4,000 but he still remains a viable option tonight. The Clippers have been horrendous all year against the shooting guard position (bottom 2). Brewer could potentially see additional run if Paul George is ultimately ruled out as well. Fire him up with confidence in any format tonight as a way to save salary.
PG/SF Caris LeVert (BKN @ PHI, $5,000)
Yes, I know what you’re thinking, a Brooklyn Nets player? Hear me out. Allen Crabbe is currently questionable and if he misses, LeVert would be the one to get a major boost. Even if Crabbe plays, LeVert has been averaging just under 30 minutes a game while coming off the bench. He has recently shown 40 point upside twice out the past 5 games, which on this salary is good for 8-9x upside. Even when his game is off, he still reaches value which would be 25 points tonight. Given his upside and the quality matchup against Philadelphia, consider LeVert a GPP play only.
PF/C Bam Adebayo ($4,900) or PF/C James Johnson ($5,200)
Hassan Whiteside will be sidelined once again against the Lakers tonight. Both are expected to start in his place tonight against Laker bigs who this season have been last in DVP against the power forward position and bottom 5 against the center position. Both are relatively cheap and have shown major upside. Consider these two players low-risk, high reward GPP plays given their current salaries and the juicy matchup.
C Nikola Vucevic (ORL vs BOS, $8,400)
On paper, this looks like a difficult matchup for Vucevic. However, the Celtics just got destroyed by Karl-Anthony Towns and Vucevic has been the focal point of the offense without Aaron Gordon and Evan Fournier. If those two miss again tonight, I will have no hesitation starting Vucevic. He is more of a GPP play tonight for me because of the massive upside we saw early in the year.
